Multidrug-resistant bacteria are currently considered as an emergent global disease and a major public health problem. A review of this global threat of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) has necessitated a coordinated set of strategies to fight the problem in a multifaceted approach as endorsed by the 68th World Health Assembly through the Global Action Plan on AMR.

To achieve the above by May 2017, the Kenyan Government, through the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries (SDL/DVS) established a National Antimicrobial Stewardship Advisory Committee (NASAC) which appointed a multi-sectoral technical working group to lead the process of developing a National Policy and Action Plan on AMR. The MOH invites views to the draft policy on Antimicrobial Resistance.
