Nairobi KENYA May 16, 2019 – Cancer is ranked the 3rd cause of deaths in Kenya with an estimated 37,000 new cases and 28,000 deaths annually.
There have been concerted efforts by the Government, partners and the private sector to improve cancer services in the country. However the steady rise in cancer cases calls for rigorous efforts.
In a bid to bring the services closer to the people, the Government plans to establish four National cancer centres in the country.
Today, the Principal Secretary for Health , Susan Mochache met with Kisii County Governor Hon. James Ongwae, host of the centre that will serve the greater Nyanza region, to discuss plans for the Centre.
