CAS Health attend regional health ministers conference on UHC

Lusaka, ZAMBIA  February 19, 2020– Kenya is participating in the 69th East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) Health Ministers’ Conference in Lusaka Zambia.


The Ministry of Health, Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, is representing the country at the multi-country conference whose deliberations will focus on cross national health matters towards fostering regional cooperation for better health.


The main theme of the three  day conference which, was opened by Her Excellency Mrs. Inongwe Wina, the Vice President of Zambia, is “Innovation and Accountability in Health Towards Achieving Universal Health Coverage.”


The conference will also discuss efforts to improve adolescent and young people’s health, opportunities for achieving water and sanitation health global target, equity and access to eye health care in the ECSA region and Innovative approaches toward achieving food safety and improving quality of life.


Other issues to be discussed includes prioritizing substance use and mental health challenges in the ECSA region and tackling emerging and re-emerging health threats through a regional one health approach to managing recurrent outbreaks in the region.


The East, Central and Southern African Health Community (ECSA-HC) is an inter-governmental health organization that fosters and promotes regional cooperation in health among nine (9) member states.
