Health Cabinet Secretary Senator Mutahi Kagwe when he addressed the media the Covid-19 situation in the country at Afya House. He appealed to Kenyans to take personal responsibility as the Country was currently witnessing the third wave of the virus. The CS announced that a total of 1,279 people had tested positive for the virus from a sample size of 7,450 tested in the last 24 hours, which is 17 per cent positivity rate, the highest to be experienced in the country so far. The CS said unlike before where virtually all our infections were asymptomatic, we are now witnessing a steady increase in hospitalizations with ICU cases climbing over 100 over the last one week from a low of 30 just two months ago. The Cs was accompanied to the briefing by the Director Public Health Dr (Col) Francis Kuria and the Chairman of the Task Force on Vaccines Dr Willis Akhwale.
