CS Health launches UHC pilot registration in Kisumu county









Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is ensuring that all Kenyans have access to preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services at minimum financial burden.

To ensure attainment of UHC in four pilot counties of Machakos, Nyeri, Isiolo and Kisumu, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Sicily Kariuki

has been launching registration

Campaigns ahead of the Presidential launch of the pilot UHC program.

On November 15, 2018 the CS who was hosted by the Governor of Kisumu County, Prof. Peter Nyong’o launched the UHC pilot registration exercise at Okore Oganda Primary School.

Kisumu county is expected to register 240,000 people under UHC. So far 117,000 have been registered.

The CS urged the resident of Kisumu county to register for the UHC card which will enable them to get Public health services, Community health services, Primary health care services and secondary health care services.

During the occasion the CS also launched the Kisumu County adolescent and young people health policy which, will enable the youth to rebuild their lives after going through difficulties of teenage pregnancies.

She also donated specialized vaccine refrigeration equipment worth KES. 1M to St Mark’s Lela Health Centre and a motor bike to increase capacity for storage of vaccines & to improve immunization coverage.
