CS Health meets Global Fund support of public health programmes

Nairobi, KENYA, March 26th, 2018– The Cabinet Secretary for Health  Sicily Kariuki has commended the Global Fund for supporting public health programmes. The CS observed that in the past 15 years 25 grants have been signed between the Global Fund and Kenya and reaffirmed the Country’s commitment and support to the Global Fund Mechanism.
She made the remarks when she met a delegation of Members of Parliament from France Friends of the Global Fund Europe who are in the country to assess programmes funded by the Fund.
“The support from Global Fund and other partners over the last decade has enabled us to bring on board and maintain over 1 million adults and children living on ARVs, distributed 15 million long lasting insecticide treated nets and provided TB medicines to over 900,000 patients,” the CS noted.
She revealed that the Government has allocated Ksh 10.2 billion for the period 2018 – 2021 to support HIV ,TB and malaria interventions in the country as part of its sustainability strategy towards combating the diseases.
