Health CS Mutahi Kagwe met with the Council of Governors chaired by Embu Governor Martin Wambora at their Delta House offices in Westlands where they addressed a joint press conference on the Covid-19 situation in the country. The CS also briefed the media on the vaccination exercise in the country and the status of vaccines. Kagwe commended the Governors for their close collaboration with the national government on the vaccination exercise noting that he was pleased that most of the counties had commenced the exercise. The CS announced that the country was now in the third wave of the Covid-19 and cautioned Kenyans against lowering their guard in so far as the containment measures are concerned. The CS appealed to Kenyans to continue adhering to the containment measures of hand washing, wearing of face masks, maintaining of social and physical distance as well as avoiding gatherings be they social or political. The Governors through Wambora appealed to the President to ban political gatherings for one month during his address on Friday in order to contain the third wave.
