CS Mailu welcomes compelling results of Maisha County League


NAIROBI, Kenya, 1 December 2016 – The Government has tested 790,000 young people of HIV/Aids through the Maisha County League.

The Health Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Cleopa Mailu, disclosed that over 3 million young people have been reached through one to one mentorship and learning.

The CS made the remarks during the commemoration of the World Aids Day on 1st December 2016 themed Leadership, Commitment, Impact,’’ at Nyayo stadium, Nairobi county.

The day is dedicated to remember those who have succumbed to the HIV/AIDS epidemic as  well as review commitment to continue the good fight.

Dr. Mailu alluded that the SasaHivi campaign launched by H.E the President Uhuru Kenyatta to allow young people to live healthy and prosperous lives is course.

“I also thank the Beyond Zero campaign for addressing the plight of women and children and particularly reaching eMTCT targets. Without this initiative it would have been full hardy for us to attain the impressive milestones in our quest for better health for our people,’’ he argued.

The CS thanked the young people for working with Sauti Skika, Generation Next and popular artistes to end HIV stigma and discrimination without demanding for payment. A HIV Prevention Concert featuring popular young artistes will be staged, the CS revealed.
