Sh 800,000 CT scan project in Kiambu to help decongest hospitals in
neighboring counties

Nairobi, Kenya, May 12, 2018 – Health CS Sicily Kariuki today presided over the
ground breaking of a CT Scan project and commissioning of an ambulance
emergency quick response service at the Thika level Five Hospital.

She said on completion in six months time, the CT scan would be of great
importance not only to the local community but also to residents of the surrounding

“With the completion of the Sh 800 million wing at the hospital, the hospital will
have a 600 bed-capacity and therefore ease congestion in other facilities.” She said.

She called for collaboration between County and National governments to ensure
attainment of Universal Health Coverage.

Area governor Ferdinand Waititu said his government gives the health sector high
priority and has allocated 60 percent of the budget to the sector.

The CS was accompanied by the Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Rashid Aman.
