Nairobi Kenya, March 15, 2023 – Principal Secretaries in the Ministry of Health, Eng. Peter Tum State Department of Medical Services and Dr Josephine Mburu, State Department of Public Health & Professional Standards attended a round table discussion on revamping Kenya’s medical supplies agency, KEMSA today.
The meeting was hosted by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at Harambee House Annex, and it included local and international partners for deliberations. Also in attendance was Acting Director-General Health Services, Dr Patrick Amoth.During the meeting, Deputy President Gachagua urged development partners to continue supporting the government in improving healthcare systems. He also challenged them to direct more support to Community Health Volunteers, who are critical in administering primary healthcare.The government’s interest in making KEMSA an efficient, transparent, and accountable agency shows its commitment to improving the healthcare system. With continued support from development partners, there is a high chance that KEMSA will be revamped, thus improving healthcare service delivery in Kenya.
