Health Cabinet Secretary, Sicily Kariuki today met the UNFPA’s Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem in her Afya house office.
Their deliberations centered on sexual and reproductive health rights including safe birth, family planning, sexual and gender based violence.
The also discussed the need to catalyze incorporation of family planning in the private sector as a youth friendly pathway for health care access in line with the relevant national policy.
“Family planning is not only a social and economic matter but also a development issue. To this end we have explored the need for UNFPA to promote short acting and surgical family planning methods in addition to long acting contraception,” she said.
