Health PS meets Deans of Medical and Dental Universities in Kenya

A competent Health Workforce is the backbone of quality health service delivery, Principal Secretary, State Department for Health Standards and Professional Management Dr. Josephine Mburu has today hosted Dean of Students from 13 Universities offering Medical and Dental Courses to discuss streamlining of training, Internship and the universities representation in the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council is mandated to regulate training and practice of medicine, dentistry and community oral health within the Republic of Kenya and to regulate all health institutions in
the Country.
According to the KMPDC Act, Universities offering Medical and Dental courses are required to forward two nominees one male and one female for appointment to the Council. The PS noted that discussions between the
Ministry and universities is important to ensure uninterrupted training and placement of students for quality of services.
