MOH hosts 13th Health Sector Intergovernmental Forum

Nairobi November 7, 2019 – On 5th and 6th November, 2019 the Ministry of Health hosted the 13th Health Sector Intergovernmental Forum (HSIGF) at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies.

The Forum brought together Development Partners, Counties and Ministry of Health officials who resolved to collaborate on key areas to accelerate attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Among the key areas deliberated at length, include training of Health Professionals to improve Human Resource for Health (HRH), equipping of level II and III facilities to ensure quality health services from the grassroot level and strategies for domestic financing for health in view of the dwindling donor support.

HSIGF is held on the basis of Intergovernmental Act 2012 to provide a platform for health stakeholders to discuss, consult, collaborate and build consensus on broad health issues affecting the country.

Speaking during the closure of the forum Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache called for enhanced collaboration noting that attainment of UHC requires concerted efforts.

“The Ministry of Health is available to work with all Counties to develop healthcare financing frameworks to mitigate any gaps that may be experienced in the future,” the PS said.
