HEALTH Cabinet Secretary Dr. Barasa Meets Global Fund Audit Team to Discuss New Grant Implementation

Nairobi, 24th September 2024 - Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Deborah Barasa hosted the Global Fund Audit team, led by Mr. Augustine Agyeman-Duah, Global Fund Audit Manager, at Afya House today.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Global Fund grant supporting HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis programs in Kenya. Kenya signed a new Global Fund grant worth USD 407,989,068 on June 24, 2024, which will run from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027.

As part of routine oversight, the Global Fund will conduct an audit from September 23 to November 14, 2024. This audit will assess the effectiveness of the previous grant, which concluded on June 30, 2024.

The Ministry of Health reiterated its commitment to maintaining strong financial management and effective controls to ensure optimal use of the funds for disease control and prevention.
