The Ministry of Health is enhancing efforts to equip Kenyan healthcare workers with the necessary skills for international employment, particularly in Germany.ย

Onย Tuesday February 25, 2025 Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, received a courtesy call from representatives of the German Embassy to discuss initiatives aimed at providing employment opportunities for qualified but unemployed Kenyan nurses.ย

ย The discussions centered on the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kenya, Germany, and the countryโ€™s four main referral hospitals to facilitate specialized training programs.ย

These programs will focus on German language proficiency and professional requirements, ensuring that Kenyan nurses meet the necessary linguistic and technical competency standards for employment in Germanyโ€™s healthcare sector.ย

ย A key aspect of the initiative is the role of the Goethe Institute, which will be instrumental in providing tailored language and professional training.

ย This approach aims to ensure seamless integration of Kenyan professionals into the German workforce while aligning training with international industry standards.ย

ย This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Kenya and Germany in skills development and employment pathways.ย

โ€œThe Ministry remains committed to expanding opportunities for skilled Kenyan workers while addressing global workforce demands,โ€ the PS said.ย
