Kenya Intensifies Ebola Preparedness as PS Mary Muthoni Rallies Community Health Promoters in Nyandarua
Nyandarua ,2026 Kenya remains on high alert against Ebola, with intensified surveillance, border screening, and strengthened isolation facilities despite no confirmed cases in the country. Speaking during the Sensitization of Community Health Promoters Forum in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni emphasized the importance of hygiene, disease prevention, and support for health workers.
The Principal Secretary also commended Community Health Promoters for their significant contribution to primary healthcare delivery, highlighting government efforts in the digitization of health facilities and the deployment of essential medical equipment to strengthen service delivery across the country.
She underscored the need for each Community Health Promoter to effectively cover 100 households to enhance accountability, improve health outcomes, and ensure that communities receive timely and quality healthcare services.
Further, the Principal Secretary conveyed condolences to families affected by the Utumishi School tragedy and reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted health services while strengthening preparedness against emerging and re-emerging public health threats.
