Kenyans Embrace SHA Rollout with High Registration Turnout

Kakamega county, 1st October 2024 - The rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA) countrywide turned out in larger numbers today, as Kenyans showed overwhelming support for SHA registration during its official rollout.

Health CS Dr. Deborah Barasa, joined by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii and Kakamega Governor F. Barasa, led the exercise and assured citizens that healthcare services will continue uninterrupted.

Dr. Barasa encouraged Kenyans to register for SHA to gain access to free primary healthcare, emphasizing that no health facility will deny services during this transition period.

She issued a directive to ensure all services remain available and urged Kenyans to register easily by dialing *147#, through assisted registration with Community Health Promoters (CHPs), or online via the SHA website.

In Kisumu County, Public Health and Professional Standards PS Mary Muthoni spearheaded the SHA registration efforts. She highlighted the comprehensive range of services offered under SHA, from maternal care through the revamped Linda Mama program to emergency, surgical, and specialized care available at both public and private facilities.

Muthoni urged the public to seize this opportunity and register to benefit from these essential services.
