MoH Unveils FY2026/27 Budget Priorities to Strengthen Community Health and UHC
LNairobi May13,2026 The State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards appeared before the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health to present the FY2026/27 Budget Estimates, focusing on strengthening preventive and promotive healthcare, community health systems, professional standards, and accelerating Universal Health Coverage under the BETA agenda.
During the meeting, the State Department emphasized the Government’s deliberate shift from curative healthcare to preventive and promotive health, noting that investments in prevention and community health systems are critical in reducing the burden and cost of disease management while improving health outcomes for Kenyans.
The Committee was also briefed on key priority areas including strengthening disease surveillance and emergency preparedness, expansion of Primary Care Networks, support for Community Health Promoters, rollout of digital health systems, strengthening TB and malaria programmes, healthcare workforce training and internship support, enhancement of public health laboratories and food safety systems, as well as investment in health research, innovation, and regulatory systems.
The submissions were made by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni, while the meeting was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale.
