PS Muthoni advances MOH-NGAO's collaboration for UHC
Machakos , 2024 Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, held a meeting with Machakos County Commissioner Josephine Ouko to discuss strengthening collaboration between National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) and advancing public health initiatives in the county. A key focus of their discussions was the ongoing registration for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
The partnership between NGAOs and Community Health Promoters has resulted in the successful registration of 224,309 individuals and the sensitization of 582,303 people in Machakos County since mobilization efforts began on 28th September. This reflects a strong community response and positive uptake of the initiative. Chiefs and Community Health Promoters continue to play a pivotal role in driving the campaign forward.
Speaking during the meeting, Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni stated, "The remarkable progress in SHIF registration in Machakos County is a testament to the power of partnerships at the grassroots level. Chiefs and Community Health Promoters have been instrumental in ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing affordable healthcare. We will continue to work closely with NGAOs to sustain and scale these efforts across the country."
