CS Duale, HENNET Forge Stronger Partnership to Advance UHC and Health Reforms under BETA

𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 - Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale  hosted a high-level delegation from the Health NGOs Network (HENNET), led by Interim Chairperson Dr. Caroline Njuguna, at Afya House to explore strategic partnerships in advancing Kenya’s health priorities under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The discussions focused on accelerating Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through key areas including sustainable domestic financing for immunization, enhanced use of digital systems to boost transparency and inclusivity, improved maternal and child health outcomes, and securing dedicated funding for vaccines.

Hon. Duale briefed the delegation on ongoing health sector reforms under the Taifa Care agenda, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to programmatic integration, safeguarding patient dignity, and ending bed sharing in public hospitals.

To strengthen collaboration, the CS proposed:
1. A structured coordination framework between the Ministry and HENNET with regular dialogue and performance monitoring.
2. Harnessing HENNET’s expertise to support training in cold chain logistics and deepen community engagement.
3. Joint advocacy and resource mobilization to ensure long-term financing for health and immunization programs.

He emphasized the urgency of reducing donor dependency by investing in resilient, locally funded systems—built on strong policy frameworks, robust partnerships, and community ownership. The Ministry is strengthening mechanisms for social accountability, community health units, and citizen engagement to ensure a people-centered UHC rollout.

Present during the meeting were Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Ms. Mary Muthoni, Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, and Director of Family Health Dr. Bashir Isaak.
