PS Mary Muthoni Honoured as Kenya’s Clinical Officers Gain UK Recognition

Nairobi , 2025 Principal ecretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, has been awarded a Citation of Honour by the Global Association of Clinical Officers and Physician Associates (GACOPA) in recognition of her exemplary leadership in advancing the global visibility and mobility of Kenya’s health workforce.

This recognition comes as Kenyan Clinical Officers receive official recognition from the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC) — a milestone that allows them to register and practice in Healthcare Kingdom, boosting international career opportunities and affirming Kenya’s global standing in healthcare training.

During a strategic briefing with GACOPA officials ahead of the 5th GACOPA International Delegates Conference (–30, 2025, Aston University, UK), PS Muthoni reaffirmed the Ministry’s support and commitment to formalizing engagement with the Ministry of Labour and endorsing the GACOPA UK conference as a key platform for health workforce development.

This partnership marks a major leap in positioning Kenya as a hub for globally competitive health professionals.
