PS Dr Ouma Oluga Opens 2nd Country Support Mission for World Bank Health Emergencies Preparedness Project
Nairobi, - Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr Ouma Oluga, presided over the opening of the 2nd Country Support Mission for the World Bank-funded Health Emergencies Preparedness, Response and Resilience Project. The initiative is a critical investment supporting @BioVaxInstitute to begin manufacturing human vaccines locally by 2027, marking a major milestone in Kenya’s journey towards self-reliance in health products.
The week-long mission will assess progress made so far and develop mechanisms to strengthen the efficiency and pace of project implementation.
Dr Oluga noted that the project aligns closely with the Kenya Kwanza BETA agenda, particularly its focus on strengthening local manufacturing, health security, and emergency preparedness. He urged the Project Coordinating Team to accelerate implementation to ensure timely delivery of the project’s outcomes.
The mission is being attended by the World Bank Kenya team led by Dr Bernard Olayo, the CEOs of the Kenya Biovax Institute, Dr Wesley Ronoh, and the National Quality Control Laboratory, Dr Sultani Matendechero, alongside Project Coordinator Dr Peter Cherutich.
