PS Harry Kimtai Unveils Renovated GFB Antenatal and Postnatal Ward at KNH with Support from MPESA Foundation
Nairobi, Kenya - 15th November 2024
Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, officially unveiled the newly renovated and equipped GFB Antenatal and Postnatal Ward at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), alongside critical equipment donated by the MPESA Foundation to enhance KNH’s disaster preparedness.
The KSh 50 million project, funded by the MPESA Foundation, includes extensive infrastructure upgrades, new furnishings, and enhancements to medical beds to improve maternal care.
The donated equipment, such as an emergency tent, trauma beds, blood pressure machines, splints, and a C-ARM Machine (Image Intensifier), highlights the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting Kenya’s healthcare systems.
In response to the recent disasters in Kenya, including the Embakasi fire, April floods, and June anti-finance bill protests, this contribution plays a crucial role in strengthening KNH’s emergency response capabilities.
The PS expressed gratitude to the MPESA Foundation for its visionary support, which will improve patient outcomes during crises and contribute to a more resilient healthcare system.
