New York , 2025 At the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly #UNGA79, Kenya's Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni held a strategic meeting with Dr. Kayla Laserson from the U.S. CDC’s Global Health Center.
The discussions focused on strengthening health collaboration, with a shared commitment to addressing key public health challenges in Kenya.
Dr. Laserson reaffirmed the U.S. CDC's long-standing support for Kenya in areas like research, Malaria, and HIV response, while proposing expanded efforts in public health interventions, particularly in Kenya’s response to Mpox.
PS Muthoni appreciated the CDC’s contributions and called for collaboration addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and strengthening community health systems.
