Kenya to host Medical Emergency Logistics Hub

Kenya is among three African Countries selected by the World Health Organisation to host a Logistics Hub that will be equipped with Emergency Medical Personnel, Commodities and equipment to support countries with emergencies in Eastern Africa.

Speaking during a meeting with Mr. Thiam Adama, Operations Support and Logisticss (OSL) Manager for the World Health Organisation, Africa Regional Office, Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache welcomed the move saying it resonates with Kenya’s goal of building a resilient and sustainable health system.

The Hub is expected to be a Centre of Excellence in Emergency Medical Training with a capacity to respond to a maximum of 130 crises at time. Kenya will host the 2nd Global Hub of this nature after Dubai. Other African countries selected to host hubs include Senegal and Nigeria.

The PS said the move is timely as having such a hub will shield Kenya from supply chain disruption occasioned by pandemics.
