The Cabinet Secretary for Health (CS) Sicily Kariuki is touring the county of Lamu to commission health equipments worthy 1 billion shillings. Lamu (KENYA), November 16, 2018























Today the CS commissioned a renal/dialysis unit, a CT Scan machine and an operating thaetre at the Lamu county hospital under the Ministry of Health, Managed Equipment Services Project.

The CT scan services will facilitate imaging necessary for diagnosis of various conditions in the county, while the dialysis services are expected to ease the challenges in dialysis for renal patients who have been traveling to Mombasa County for dialysis.

During the tour the CS met the Cuban doctors specialists at the facility and emphasized on the need to support current curative services besides strengthening health prevention and promotion services in the county.

She urged the County Health Management Team in Lamu County to scale up community health interventions to address WASH infections in the region and also promote uptake of skilled delivery services in the county.

She noted that the Ministry of Health will be delivering a vaccine preservation equipment, vehicle and motorbike to Lamu county in two weeks time to improve immunization coverage in the county from the current 77% .

The CS also visited the Lamu girls high school and encouraged the form 4 candidates to work hard and be disciplined as they write the remaining KCSE papers.
