Health Principal Secretary Peter Tum holsing discussions with the Danish Delegation

Nairobi, KENYA July 5, 2018 – The Principal Secretary for Health, Eng. Peter Tum today met a Danish delegation led by the Deputy Ambassador Mr. Henrik Larsen to discuss the DANIDA Support to the Universal Health Care in the Devolved Health Systems Project.

The three-and-a-half-year project is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Health and Council of Governors(CoG).

The project aims at improving access to quality Primary Health Care (PHC) and Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) services.

The grant will support operation and maintenance costs of gazetted primary health care facilities, strengthening initiatives including M&E and program management.

Eng. Tum noted that PHC is a key driver to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the project will play a critical role towards the goal and pledged the Ministry’s commitment to ensure success of the program.

The program is jointly implemented with the World Bank-funded Transforming Health Systems for Universal Care Project through a Project Management Team while the Intergovernmental Forum for health will provide stewardship and oversight of the project.
