Tapping into Pharmacy to accelerate attainment of Universal Health Coverage Nairobi, Wednesday February 26

Health Principal Secretary, PS Susan Mochache has today met  representatives from the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya and the Kenya Pharmaceutical Association to explore strategies for tapping into the rich pharmaceutical skill base to accelerate Universal Health Coverage(UHC).

Speaking during the meeting at her Afya House Office, the PS appreciated the significant contribution of the Pharmacy profession to the Health Sector. “The Pharmacy Profession brings a unique set of skills to the Health Sector that if effectively utilised can help boost the UHC goal.” She said.

They discussed ways for better engagement to ensure maximum contribution from the players both at policy and technical levels to ensure quality and affordable Health Products and Technologies (HPTs.) “Availability of affordable HPTs will ease the burden of healthcare given that 40-70% of Healthcare costs go to the commodities.” The PS said.
