Nairobi, KENYA Friday July 20, 2018 – The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health Sicily Kariuki has emphasized the need to improve coordination of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) structures with clear focus on mutual accountability and results.

The CS said there is need to beef up leadership and governance mechanisms in counties and service providers, in addition to investing in the health sector and strengthening efficient use of resources.

Addressing stakeholders joint UHC Coordination committee workshop organized by the Ministry of Health in Nairobi, the CS revealed that the roadmap towards UHC is on course with the backing of the highest political office.

She urged the devolved governments to cooperate with the National Government to enable the country to achieve UHC within the stipulated timeframe and called on the UHC committees to consult widely and co-opt if necessary to strengthen the core membership to enable the Ministry to succeed in the journey of UHC.
