We are strengthening accountability for improved service delivery, CS Mailu

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 15, 2017 – The solution to restore donor funding to the Ministry of Health by the United States Government will be known in three days’ time.

On Monday the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Cleopa Mailu disclosed that the ministry has been meeting the US officials on the issue of suspension and is confidence an amicable solution will be reached by the donor before the end of the week.

“Meanwhile I want to assure the members of the public that service delivery in our major programs has not been affected by the suspension and those who have been receiving services will continue to do so,” said Dr. Mailu.

The CS who addressed the media after flagging off medical commodities to faith based organizations revealed that the Ministry has been working on its accountability systems to ensure prudent financial management and procurement of health services is secure.

He noted that the ministry values partnerships with development partners and will remain committed to strengthening collaborations with them for better service delivery.

“We have also to listen to our partners and that is what we are doing. Partnership is about trust, without trust we cannot have solutions,” the CS remarked.
