NAIROBI, Kenya, May 15, 2017 – The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Cleopa Mailu has confirmed that funds were dispatched to counties to pay doctors dues from the supplementary budget. The CS said all payments have been processed and released to counties and there should be no reason why they shouldn’t be paid.
“After we signed a return to work formula with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union and Council of Governors (COG), the National Treasury provided funds through the supplementary budget to pay the doctors. I am therefore urging the Union to focus attention to respective counties to effect the payments,” said Dr. Mailu on Monday during the flagging of medical commodities to counties.
