Capacity Building Towards Scaling Up Primary Care Networks

The Ministry of Health in collaboration with Development Partners has  kicked off Master Trainers of  Trainers training (ToTs) towards scaling up of Primary Health Care Networks (PCNs). The Government intends to establish 315 PCNs across the country to accelerate Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

We are also deploying strategies to  lower the cost of health care services including  progressive health financing model, establishment of national health board for bulk purchasing of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) to lower cost  and establishment of  fully integrated  and intraoperable health information ecosystem.

The peak of these initiatives will be during the Mashujaa Day 2023 when H.E President William Samoei Ruto is expected  to launch a Smart Primary Care Network at Kapkatet Hospital,Kericho County. 

 These PCNs are purposed to foster integration of care across levels of the health system and improve efficiency of the health system by providing care at the optimal level and ensuring that no one is left out.

The Master ToTs ,drawn from 47 counties and are expected to build capacities in their respective counties to operationalize the PCNs .
