Cs duale engages health committee on budget, reforms
Nairobi, Kenya- 14th May 2025 - Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale appeared before the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health, chaired by Seme MP Hon. James Nyikal, to discuss the budget estimates for the State Department for Medical Services, for the fiscal year 2025/26 at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.
The meeting addressed several key issues, including human resource challenges in health, particularly regarding Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff, the Social Health Authority’s primary healthcare fund, KEMSA recapitalization, and debt management.
CS Duale briefed the committee on health reforms, especially the digitization of health services, aimed at improving access to quality care and tackling unqualified medical practitioners. He also highlighted the recent launch of the Kenya National Public Health Institute (KNPHI) to facilitate faster, more effective decision-making on health matters.
Reaffirming his commitment to improving healthcare access, the CS emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to provide quality healthcare to all Kenyans, regardless of age, location, or economic status.
The CS was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga and CEOs of several Ministry semi-autonomous government agencies.
