ECSA-HS Disseminates Regional Adolescent Nutrition Advocacy Strategy

Nairobi,  — The dissemination meeting for the East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) Regional Adolescent Nutrition Advocacy Strategy was officially opened  by Dr. Patrick Amoth, Kenya's Director General for Health, at a Nairobi hotel.

The strategy is set to address significant adolescent health challenges in the region, including malnutrition, early pregnancies, and micronutrient deficiencies.

The initiative outlines a comprehensive approach to improving adolescent health through multisectoral policies, evidence-based interventions, and enhanced regional cooperation.

The meeting brought together representatives from ECSA-HC, several government ministries and departments—such as Health, Agriculture & Livestock, Social Protection, Education, and NACONEK—and key partners, including UNICEF, Nutrition International, -CSA, APHRC, Centre for Behaviour Change Communication, Tico Foundation, and Nutrition for Africa.

Participants discussed ways to implement the strategy effectively and strengthen collaborative efforts to improve health outcomes for adolescents across the region.
