Government Committed to Achieving WHO Maturity Level 3 for National Quality Control Laboratories
Nairobi , 2025 The Government of Kenya is steadfast in its commitment to achieving World Health Organization (WHO) Maturity Level 3 status for the National Quality Control Laboratories (NQCL). This milestone will ensure the highest quality standards for health products and technologies, aligning with international benchmarks and advancing the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
During a visit to the NQCL , Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, emphasized the importance of the institution in safeguarding public health. The visit aimed to examine challenges faced by the NQCL and explore sustainable solutions to enhance its capacity and performance.
“The NQCL plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of health products for all Kenyans. As a government, we are committed to addressing its challenges and providing the necessary support to ensure it fulfills its mandate effectively,” said PS Muthoni.
