Government Expands Investment in Level 5 Hospitals to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery

The Government is strengthening health infrastructure across the country to expand access to quality healthcare and support the delivery of Universal Health Coverage.

Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga said KSh 29 billion is being invested in the construction of 13 Level 5 hospitals, each with a capacity of 300 beds. The facilities will bring specialised services closer to communities and ease pressure on existing referral hospitals.

Dr. Oluga noted that infrastructure investment must be supported by sustainable healthcare financing. He called upon Kenyans to register with and contribute to the Social Health Authority to ensure they can access healthcare services when needed.

The Principal Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to working with county governments to strengthen health facilities and ensure that public resources deliver improved services and better health outcomes for Kenyans
