Government Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Kenya’s Health Workforce as KMPDU Unveils Strategic Plan
Nairobi, - The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr Ouma Oluga, has reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment to building a resilient and well-supported health workforce as a central pillar of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Speaking during the launch of the KMPDU Strategic Plan 2025 - 2029 strategic plan in Nairobi, Dr Oluga highlighted the leadership of H.E. President Dr William Samoei Ruto, noting that the President has prioritised the welfare, development, and deployment of health workers as part of ongoing health sector reforms.
He cited key milestones achieved under the current administration, including the operationalisation of the Health Human Resource Advisory Council, appointment of a national taskforce on health worker welfare, and progress in clinical placement, UHC staffing arrangements, and internship placements.
Dr Oluga emphasised that these reforms reflect clear direction from the highest office and reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to collaborate with KMPDU in implementing the new plan.
The launch marks a significant step towards strengthening Kenya’s health workforce and advancing quality healthcare delivery nationwide.
