Health CS Hon. Aden Duale Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Health Systems in Kericho

Kericho, Kenya - 9th May 2025 - Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today joined the leadership and residents of Kericho County to underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening Kenya’s health sector.

In his keynote address, Hon. Duale outlined ongoing health sector reforms under the Kenya Kwanza Administration, including the rollout of Social Health Authority (SHA) registration and benefit packages, and the digitization of health services—key pillars in operationalizing the Taifa Care Model.

The Cabinet Secretary also announced plans to construct a Level 6 Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kericho, in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB). The proposed facility is expected to significantly advance access to specialized care and support the country’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.

He further urged county leadership to ensure full integration of all Primary Health Care facilities into the SHA programme to guarantee equitable service delivery at the community level.

Hon. Duale was hosted by Governor H.E. Erick Mutai and joined by National Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, along with other senior government officials.
