Health CS Launches Digital Health Drive in Lamu to Enhance Transparency and Service Delivery
Lamu, ๐๐๐ง๐ฒ๐ โ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐, ๐๐๐๐ - The Ministry of Health has achieved a major stride in digital health reforms with the handover of 100 digital devices to Lamu County a move aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and restoring public confidence in healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the KEFRI grounds in Mokowe Sub-County, Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale spotlighted the rollout of the Comprehensive and Integrated Health Information System (CIHIS). The system, which digitizes patient records, prescriptions, and facility transactions, is expected to enhance efficiency, curb fraud, and promote sector-wide transparency.
By the end of 2025, 45 public health facilities in Lamu will be fully automated. Already, 78 digital devices have been deployed, and county health workers are undergoing training to improve service delivery and patient care outcomes.
Underscoring the importance of grassroots engagement, the CS urged healthcare workers to champion SHA registration in their communities, calling it essential for achieving quality healthcare at the last mile.
He also assured the gathering of the governmentโs commitment to resolving longstanding grievances of UHC staff and outlined steps being taken to address fraud within SHA. The session also featured a briefing on ongoing efforts to improve quality of care and patient safety a key component of Kenyaโs health sector transformation.
