Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale launched a strategic partnership between Save the Children and Dahabshiil Holdings, bringing together humanitarian commitment and private sector innovation to advance child health across the region.
The partnership reflects the power of SDG 17 and reaffirms the Ministry of Health’s alignment with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), prioritising Universal Health Coverage and equity—especially for vulnerable children.
Hon. Duale emphasised the regional nature of health threats facing children and called for stronger cross-border collaboration. “Through mechanisms such as IGAD, and with support from WHO, UNICEF, and partners like Save the Children, we are enhancing surveillance, mobile outreach, and referral systems,” he stated.
He highlighted impactful innovations championed through existing collaboration, including chlorhexidine cord care for newborns, Kangaroo Mother Care for preterm infants, and integrated school-based health and nutrition programmes—lifesaving strategies with long-term impact.
The CS reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building an equitable health system and called on county health departments to align with national priorities and reach the last mile—where children and families need services most.
The event was hosted by Save the Children Country Director Mr. Mohamud Hassan and Dahabshiil Group CEO Mr. Abdirashid Duale, and attended by Wajir South MP Hon. Adow Mohamed, alongside representatives from the donor and development community.
