Kenya and Tanzania Collaborate on Strategic Risk Assessment at Key Border Points
Tanga Tanzania August12-24, 2024 Multisectoral teams from Kenya and Tanzania have conducted a crucial Joint Rapid Assessment on the Lunga Lunga and Horohoro Points of Entry (PoEs). This strategic initiative aims to identify and map out common risks that threaten both nations, including disease outbreaks, radiological hazards, environmental challenges, and chemical risks.
During the assessment, the teams thoroughly reviewed the availability and readiness of isolation and quarantine facilities at these key border points. This evaluation is critical for ensuring both countries are prepared to respond effectively to any health or environmental emergencies that may arise.
This cross border collaboration aligns with Presidential Directives that was issued on and subsequent MOU on Cooperation in the Field Of Health that was signed by the Cabinet secretary for Health Kenya and Minister for Health for United Republic of Tanzania on .
