Kenya and UK Deepen Collaboration on Universal Health Coverage

The Ministry of Healthย ย hosted a high-level delegation of Members of Parliament from the United Kingdom, led by Hon. Michael Payne, for a bilateral engagement at Afya House, Nairobi. The discussions focused on strengthening partnerships to advance Kenyaโ€™s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformative Agenda (BETA).

The meeting highlighted the critical role of Global Fund grants in enabling user-free access to HIV, TB, and Malaria services, in line with the Taifa Care Model and the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).

Key areas of enhanced collaboration proposed include:
โœ”๏ธ Local manufacturing of essential health products and technologies
โœ”๏ธ Digital transformation in healthcare
โœ”๏ธ Establishment of an emergency medical treatment fund to support urgent care, cancer treatment, and referrals

The session was attended by Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, Hon. Tim Roca, Eduarda Mendonรงa-Gray (British High Commission), Paul MacCarrick (Global Fund), among other dignitaries.
