Kenya, Egypt Advance Health Cooperation at WHS Nairobi 2026
Nairobi Kenya - - Health Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, held bilateral talks with Egypt’s Minister for Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, on the sidelines of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026, advancing collaboration across key priority areas.
The discussions focused on strengthening local manufacturing of essential health commodities, with the two countries identifying opportunities for joint production, technology transfer, and regulatory alignment, building on Egypt’s established pharmaceutical capacity.
Access to medicines at the primary healthcare level featured prominently, with emphasis placed on ensuring targeted, standards-aligned supply to meet priority health needs.
The two sides also explored a planned Egyptian medical mission to Kenya in , aimed at extending specialist services to underserved areas while supporting skills transfer through a structured annual programme.
In addition, Kenya proposed expanded training partnerships in priority specialties through structured intake, professional exchanges, and short-term attachments beginning in the 2026/2027 cycle.
Both countries agreed to designate focal persons and conduct a joint progress review within six months to monitor implementation and sustain momentum.
