Kenya Ramps Up Drive to End Preventable Maternal and Newborn Deaths at ISSAD 2026 Gala Dinner

Nairobi ,2026 Kenya is accelerating efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths through strengthened primary healthcare and Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking at the Gala Dinner of the 4th International Symposium on Streptococcus agalactiae Disease (ISSAD 2026) in Nairobi, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards,. Mary Muthoni reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to prevention, integrated maternal and newborn services, strong surveillance and laboratory systems, and expanded community health delivery.

She also called for stronger partnerships and practical collaboration among stakeholders to translate science into action and sustainably end maternal and newborn deaths, emphasizing that every mother and every child deserves the healthiest possible start in life.
