Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S. Wafula led the distribution of these advanced smartphones at both J.M Kariuki Hospital in Nyandarua County and Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.ย

She was joined by Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha and Nyahururu Governor Joshua Irungu, reinforcing their support for this endeavor, which enhances CHPs' accessibility and data-sharing capabilities.ย

This initiative aligns with the broader objective of advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and has received substantial backing from President William Ruto, who endorsed it during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations. In September, President Ruto officially launched 100,000 CHPs, each equipped to serve 100 households with modern medical tools.ย

Furthermore, the Cabinet Secretary extended this distribution effort to Laikipia County, partnering with Governor Joshua Irungu to equip CHPs at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital with the essential smartphones.ย

The Ministry of Health is at the forefront of digitally transforming the healthcare sector, in line with the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda. This reaffirms the government's unwavering commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for achieving UHC.

The state-of-the-art smartphones, locally assembled and customized in collaboration with Safaricom, are designed to amplify the effectiveness of the Community Health program, as emphasized by the CS.ย
