Nairobi, Kenya - 29th November 2023 - At the Global Financing Facility (GFF) meeting today Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, underscored the nation's significant strides towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Highlighting Kenya's progress, the CS emphasized the enactment of four pivotal laws and the launch of a cohort of over 100,000 equipped and trained community health promoters.Β Additionally, the CS emphasized a comprehensive digitization effort aimed at enhancing monitoring capabilities.

Kenya, one of the initial four countries to join the GFF in 2015, has seen considerable advancements through initiatives like the RMNCAH Investment Framework and the Transforming Health Systems for Universal Care Project (THS-UCP).

These efforts have led to increased service coverage, reduced mortality rates, equitable healthcare distribution, and a surge in domestic financing for health from an average of 19% in 2015 to an average of 34% in 2021.
