Medical Camp in Kirinyaga County Emphasizes Disease Prevention as a Gateway to Universal Health Coverage

In a landmark collaboration, the Ministry of Health and Kirinyaga County  hosted an expansive medical camp in Kianyaga, leaving no health need unaddressed.

The event witnessed a robust turnout as residents availed themselves of an extensive range of services. These encompassed not only critical screenings for cervical and breast cancer but also encompassed blood sugar monitoring, nutritional counseling, mental health assessments, and general treatment services.

Speaking  when she presided over the event, Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni informed that the focal point of the initiatives;  HPV vaccination drive, specifically targeting girls aged 10-14  and screening for women, aligns  with the ambitious World Health Organization's 90.70.90 goals. "This strategic move aims not only to provide immediate preventive care but also to set the stage for universal health coverage." Said the PS.

She noted that beyond the immediate health benefits, the event signifies a bold step towards a future where healthcare is not a luxury but a right for all. PS Muthoni said that the emphasis on prevention, as echoed by the Government  under the Primary Care Model #AfyaNyumbani underscores a commitment to reducing the burden of diseases.

"'s event is a stride towards a community-centric, inclusive healthcare system that envisions a  more health empowered and  resilient population." Said the PS.
