Ministry Begins Preparations for National Health Summit
Nairobi, Kenya - - The Ministry of Health has commenced preparations for the National Health Summit following an inaugural high-level planning meeting chaired by the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga. The meeting brought together the Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Daniel Mwai, Chief Executive Officers of State Corporations, Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs), and senior officials from the State Department’s Technical Directorates and Administration.
The Summit, scheduled for early August, will provide a national platform to advance key health sector reforms aimed at strengthening service delivery and accelerating the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Discussions will focus on priority areas including healthcare financing, human resources for health, digitization, commodity security, local manufacturing, innovation and strategic partnerships in support of the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The planning meeting reviewed the proposed framework for the Summit, including its thematic priorities, resource mobilization strategy and logistical arrangements to ensure successful implementation.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Oluga emphasized the importance of collaboration across all levels of government and with development partners, the private sector and other stakeholders to ensure broad participation and collective action towards strengthening Kenya’s health system and improving health outcomes for all.
