Β The Ministry of Health, led by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, formed a strategic partnership with the Council of Governors, chaired by Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, resulting in the signing of an Inter-Governmental Participatory Agreement. This agreement aims to improve medical equipment services in county public facilities through a Fee-for-Service Model.Β
The signing ceremony took place in Mombasa County onΒ MondayΒ and was attended by Principal Secretaries Mr. Harry Kimtai (Medical Services) and Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health).Β The innovative model allows vendors to supply essential equipment, consumables, reagents, and maintenance at no upfront cost to the facilities. Revenue generated from these services will be distributed based on tariffs established by the Social Health Authority (SHA).Β
Β During the event, Dr. Barasa reiterated the Ministryβs commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by enhancing access to affordable, quality healthcare across Kenya. She emphasized ongoing support for counties in equipping their facilities to deliver high-quality healthcare to all citizens.Β
Additionally, Dr. Barasa encouraged governors to actively promote SHA registration within their counties and urged all Kenyans to enroll with SHA to fully benefit from these healthcare improvements.
