Ministry reaffirms commitment to governance and accountability in healthcare
Nairobi, Kenya - - The Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance, accountability and prudent management of public resources as key enablers of effective healthcare service delivery.
Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga met with the Ministerial Audit Committee, led by its Chair, CPA Lloyd Metha, at Afya House to review the Committee’s progress ahead of the end of its tenure next month.
The Committee commended the Ministry for its support and collaboration, noting progress in the implementation of audit recommendations, strengthening internal controls and promoting accountability within the State Department for Medical Services.
Dr. Oluga appreciated the Committee’s contribution to strengthening institutional systems and effective oversight. He noted that sound governance remains critical to advancing key health priorities, including health financing, workforce development, access to quality health products and commodities, and the digitisation of healthcare services.
The Principal Secretary reaffirmed the State Department’s commitment to implementing the Committee’s recommendations and working with oversight structures to strengthen accountability, improve service delivery and advance Universal Health Coverage.
Present were Dr. Fauziya Brek, CPA Caren Oduor, CPA CIA Joel S. Walucho, representing the National Treasury, and CPA Joseph Welimo.
